Woods in Westhampton!

Dave and Susan visited the New York Woods June 9-11, 2010.  Marilyn and Stuart were hosting Randy and Ericka, with Valentina, age 2 and newly arrived Diego Alexander Wood.  As Randy and Ericka are headed for their new assignment in Senegal, West Africa, we wanted to meet the kids!  An added bonus was a visit from Barbara and Jerry AND Gary came by with Zachary and Ajia.  A mini-reunion!

North Carolina May 14-24, 2010

After meeting Dave Cohen, Kim and Mitchell in Asheville one evening for dinner at the Early Girl cafe, we strolled around the city, getting to know the soon-to-be home city of the Cohen family.

The resident white peacock.  He flies, jumps and squawks around the barn where Treska Lindsay lives. Treska is Kerry Lindsay's mother (founder of Highland Lakes).   She is a writer and artist of children's books.  Her organic garden is wonderful.

Istanbul, April 28-May 3, 2010

We had a delightful trip to Istanbul, visiting Barry, Meltem and Ozan in their new home. Here is a non-chronological assortment of pictures. A highlight was visiting Ellen Jewett and Husam by taking a water taxi over the Bosphorus and enjoying refreshments in their book-filled Yali (old wooden house on the Bosphorus) with the water lapping on the front of the house.

We own it! April 12 - 16, 2010

We got settled at 69 Lake Cove Road in Flat Rock, NC - learning how to use new appliances (all energy and water efficient), stocking the basics, and enjoying beautiful spring weather. The lake is drained low to clean the silt filters and will be back next week. Harry Deaton, our decorator/organizer, is on the case. It was fun to arrive and find kitchen equipment in place, some of which is new to us (Cuisinart blender/chopper combo). Her husband Joe is making curtains.

There are three new houses here, ours is the yellow on the right. The blue one is almost finished. The green one between is done and awaiting a buyer.

The teal blue doors accent the yellow nicely.

Dave likes the porch, although the pollen season is active and we clean yellow dust daily.
