Wood Family Reunion, May 23-26, 2008, Mount Gretna

New attendees were Judy Cohen (Dave's mother), Scot (of Scot and Marji Wheeler, Columbus, Ohio), Janese (of NY with Wendy), and Heather MacIntyre, Gregory's girlfriend and Mitch's sitter.

On Sunday, Mark and Mavia Nelson visited with daughter Makaylah. We hiked to the tower, their first time packing the baby. Dave held Makaylah while Mark and Mavia climbed the tower.

On Sunday night, a family card game ensued...Quizzle, quibble??? Gregory, a scrabble pro, was a player and judge of what were real words!

Pine Needles - Golf School!

I (Susan) spent May 3-10 in Pinehurst, NC, at golf school, with my friends Lynne (left) and Angela (right). We three played together 20 years ago at the CIGNA golf course. Lynne is now a respectable 17 handicap, having moved to a golf course in Pinehurst four years ago. My goal is to lower my handicap into the 30's this year!

Pine Needles is known for instruction, especially for women. A legend in golf - Peggy Kirk Bell (age 86) and her 3 children run Pine Needles. The course is designed by Donald Ross - a distinct feature being convex greens - you need to get your ball near the middle of the green, or watch your ball roll off on any side, into a trap or pit!

Here the carts for 164 women are lined up for the day.
Here's my fivesome. We played 18 holes each day, and had 1/2 day of instruction. The gal in yellow shorts was once an Olympic diver. The pink shirted one runs a Ford dealership in NJ with her father.

It was soggy on Thursday, but gorgeous all other days.

On Friday, we tested our new skills on the golf course where Lynne and Steve Frazier live - National. I had gotten coaching from golf pro Donna Andrews that morning (excellent). We were absorbing a lot of learning, so results varied! We put 6 balls in the water on one hole.
Our golf pals Wanda and Beverly invited us to see their beautiful homes, with refreshments.
